Maybe because the models posted there never meant to be bought or used by anyone outside Japan to begin with? Even while, like I said once before, the MMD content sources are now internationally amalgamated with a even level of awareness, especially when it comes to R-18 stuff.
Like, you know how Japanese people usually behaves, right?

Maybe that's exactly the reason for what's happening!
Someone even said that "while pretty much 99% of the MMD assets was produced by Japanese people in one form and another, Western people have a far greater community and are known to produce most and a much better content using said assets". Maybe that's why the search for higher quality models outside Japan, in one form or another, is that frequen and noticeable

With regards to "paid models"... That shouldn't even be a thing in the first place! MMD is called "freeware" for a reason!
