Japanese toilets often have their water tanks connected by a pipe to the toilet while the tank itself is high up on the wall to use gravity to feed the water in. She might be blocking the view of the pipe.

They are sometimes build into the wall, especially in public toilets. The button to flush is on a plate flush with the wall.

Mild electricity heating of the toilet seat feels absolutely lovely when the toilet room is unheated. (My buttocks have been in Japan and can confirm this).
