Is there a reason why non full body models have an explicit rating?

I just wish someone would make r18 edits of these.

v1.1 version which has textures more accurate to the show is at bowlroll.net/file/42108 . Check out ykihp's Bowlroll page, he also has Go Princess and Mahou Girls models plus extra versions of the Happinesscharge models.

...I actually did make R-18 edits of these this summer using Kurauchi's Idolmaster v4.2 bodies as bases. It violates the models' T.O.S., though, and since ykihp is about the only non-3DCG Precure modeler who actually distributes his models publicly (I loathe Hutariwa-P for this reason), I'm loathe to run afoul of them, especially after what just happened with Warspite. I really only did it to practice fitting heads to bodies they weren't designed for.

@anon 5: anon2 here. I understand the whole not wanting to make them upset thing. I actually tried similar myself with these a while ago, but I'm not great at model editing and they looked like crap.

Is there any way you could distribute privately? Or would that just still get the original modeler mad if people uploaded stuff with the edits?

Precure is such a dodgy thing in MMD. Because it's a show that has an intended audience of little girls and is one of the few magical girl shows that does not do fanservice, the models I've collected tend to go above and beyond in the readmes emphasizing not to use the models for works that "ruin the image of the characters". Now, that said, obviously if you look around Comiket, DLSite or any doujinshi-sharing website there's obviously seven shitloads and two metric fuckloads of Precure hentai on the internet, but nobody in Japan is doing R-18 MMD with Precure, even with converted 3DCG models. This suggests there's a line they know they're just not going to cross, which means even if I just put up a video, not even a model DL, it would probably still ignite the shitstorm. And like I said, publicly available Precure models are so hard to come by, I don't want to wind up with people getting cut off from them completely.

The other thing is that the modeler of the bodies I used, Kurauchi, is very lenient on his edit rules but specifies in HIS readmes that his model data can only be used for making models of Idolmaster characters, so I'd be violating the T.O.S. for those as well.

Caveat: My personal feelings on model rules are that I hate them and feel they're often arbitrary and petty (especially ones that say non-Japanese are not allowed to even use the models), and if they ever make a court decision or something in Japan that invalidates them I'm going to spam every R-18 edit I've made all over the internet within seconds. But until then I just can't bring myself to bite the hand that feeds. I'm sorry, I probably should have never brought up that I did it in the first place.

But in the meantime, if you really wanted, you could actually make them yourself. What I did wasn't that complex, it only took a few hours per model and that was completely from scratch. If you've got these models and the Idolmaster T-back bikini set you can make the exact same models I did. With PMDEditor you just separate the Precure heads and the Idolmaster bodies, import them and merge the duplicate bones to preserve the rigging, and then just make the necks look nice where they come together so there aren't gaps in the skin. You'd need to mess with the textures a little so the skin color came out the same as well but that isn't hard to do in Photoshop or GIMP, especially since these models all use the same skin color.

Yeah, I figured there would be no way around the rules. I'm surprised to hear about the idolm@ster rules though. I had no idea about that. Like you said though, with how much precure porn fans make, it's amazing that models are the line.

As a magical girl fan still watching some of these into her adulthood, I can definitely say toei sneaks it's fan services into precure. They altered some of the designs for legacy cures like Berry and Sunshine to hide midriffs more during the 10th anniversary. And toei shoves their armpit fan services into precure at any possible turn. Which I will never understand.

I'll look into making my own edits again. Thanks for the tips. I'll just make sure to never post anything if I do get them working, now that I know.

For reference, here's the edit and usage policy taken direct from ykihp's readme (translation by me and Google):

Please limit remodeling to the extent that the image of the character is not damaged.

It is prohibited to use the model in a work damaging the image of the character.
Using it within the range of common sense is appreciated.

I'll say this: My early edits looked like crap too. The trap you tend to fall into is that you try to do too much too soon, it doesn't turn out how you wanted it to and you get frustrated. Tutorials really do help, even though you usually have to go to Deviantart to find them.

I started without any experience in any type of modeling software ever. I just found models I wanted to focus on (I chose Kurauchi's Imas models) and set concrete goals for what I wanted to do with them: I started with simply wanting to transfer Azusa's long hair onto her short haired models. Then I moved to making facial sliders for the nipples and to hide the clothing, then I started learning bone weighting and rigging, then adjusting physics, then textures and UV mapping and now I just learned how to make modifications to face vertices without messing up the facial sliders.

Find models you like and want to work with, play around with them and study them closely. A lot of modelers use shortcuts to make their lives easier which can make your life easier too when you go to mod them. For example, these Precure models all use the exact same skin color in their texture files. Another example is that Kurauchi's Imas models all use the exact same body at different size ratios, so transferring clothes from one model to another is just a matter of some quick math and then using the size plugin. By finding models you know you already like it's easier to commit yourself to working with them because you're less likely to get bored or frustrated. Good luck, and rest assured if the restrictions are ever lifted I will put them up immediately.
